1. Takes the shoes off.
2. Trim the hooves.
3. Put the shoes back on.
If a horse's shoes start to wear down and get thinner, they'll need new shoes. The shoeing of new shoes not only has the expense of getting the shoes, but it also costs more than that of just having the shoes reset to put the new shoes on.
